Leading UK heating product manufacturers, Ideal Boilers, began manufacturing their new ‘Upton Range’ of commercial boilers, consisting of varying outputs from 100 kW to 350 kW. PEM Ltd. Mechanical Innovation were challenged with designing a heat exchanger production facility for the project that allowed the heat exchanger to be assembled accurately, quickly, and safely.
After teaming up with local mechanical engineering company, D&D Engineering, PEM Ltd. Mechanical Innovation used Solidworks in order to produce 3D part and assembly solutions. After discussing and revising initial designs with the client, a series of 2D engineering drawings were produced that allowed the facility to be manufactured.
Succeeding the production of the heat exchanger assembly facility, Ideal Boilers were able to manufacture a range of commercial heat exchanger outputs in a safe and productive manner; not only reducing assembly time, but also increasing assembly repeatability and accuracy.
