I managed a team of experienced and qualified Engineers including, Gas Controllers, Process Fuel Engineers and Fuel Analysts to operate and maintain the works arising and ancillary gases distribution system and to provide fuel engineering support over a wide range of fuel related activities. The team’s responsibilities include addressing safety, process safety, quality and performance issues on specified fuel consuming units.

GREAT - Engineering Advisor (Senior Development) (May 2014 - April 2015)

The GREAT Project was a £5m business advisory service that offered free support to Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Humber, East Riding and North & West Yorkshire regions. The aims of the project were to:

  • Build a supply chain into the new energy and environmental sectors
  • Improve resource efficiency in any sector
  • Innovate and develop businesses with new green technologies

GREAT was led by the Grimsby Institute Group, delivered in partnership with HCF Ltd, and funded by the European Regional Development Fund. The Project addressed the Humber Local Economic Partnership’s priorities for the region and existing SMEs.

GREAT's Objectives;

“The Green Renewable and Environmental Associated Technologies (GREAT) project seeks to drive innovative technology transfer solutions within the Humber and North Yorkshire coastal districts.

Focused on low carbon initiatives, the project will develop local supply chains to support the emerging renewable energy industries, as well as supporting innovation and transformational change in existing energy users”.

Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Energy and Sustainability Manager (August 2013 - May 2014)

Responsible for a small Sustainability Team at one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK and the largest in the North of England. I took budget ownership of a £12M energy and water spend that accounted for c.56,000 tCO2 of building energy use emissions annually.

Furthermore, I was responsible for legislative compliance of The Energy Performance in Buildings Directive (EPBD), Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) and The Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS).

Accountable to the Trust and its PFI partner, Sodexo in relation to working towards the shared goal of managing energy and water use more efficiently across the Trust and reducing carbon and financial impacts.

Provide detailed professional and technical advice regarding the operation and maintenance of the energy consuming infrastructure to deliver optimal carbon and energy efficiency, including boilers, chillers, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, lighting etc.

Relocated back to Yorkshire to a design and development consultancy developing combustion and heat exchanger systems for international domestic and commercial boiler manufacturers.

Domestic and Commercial Boilermakers. Relocated to Lancashire with market leaders as a Senior Design Engineer. Lead a team of engineers on a pan-European domestic boiler project.
