To design a preassembled plant room that when broken down into 2 pieces could be lifted and transported to site on the back of a lorry.
A base frame manufactured from 305x127x27 universal beams with lifting points at the 4 corners was proven strong enough to take the loads. To support the external cladding and internal sound deadening walls a frame was designed utilising 70x70x5 square hollow sections and 50x50x3 equal angles.
By utilising FEA we were able to optimise steel section sizes and minimise material costs. Having modelled the design in SolidWorks 3D we were able to export the design directly into the FEA package before generating accurate associative 2D detail drawings.
Ensuring the structural integrity and safety of lifting frames in
PME conducted structural analysis and weld strength verification for Simonstone Engineering's oven lifting frames, ensuring compliance with EN13155 and enhancing operational safety.
Comprehensive structural verification of a buried stainless pipe
We conducted structural verification of a 316 stainless steel buried pipe, calculating earth and surface loads, hoop stress, and ring buckling to ensure design reliability under varying conditions.
