The valve was difficult to access and currently being accessed using scaffolding. The client required a more robust and safer means of accessing the valve.
We designed an access platform using 3D CAD. The structure was simulated in Solidworks FEA using factored permanent and variable loads. Variable loads included 1.5 x 5 kN/m2 = 7.5 kN/m2 personnel loads. This is equal to approximately 750 kg/m2. Permanent loads (self-weight) was factored by x 1.35. We also used 3D scanning tools within the area to ensure none of our new sections clashed with the existing environment.
The client was able to access the platform in a safer manner and was able to remove the scaffolding to reduce ongoing costs.
Ensuring the structural integrity and safety of lifting frames in
PME conducted structural analysis and weld strength verification for Simonstone Engineering's oven lifting frames, ensuring compliance with EN13155 and enhancing operational safety.
Comprehensive structural verification of a buried stainless pipe
We conducted structural verification of a 316 stainless steel buried pipe, calculating earth and surface loads, hoop stress, and ring buckling to ensure design reliability under varying conditions.
